27 February 2006 - Mandatory Attendance, Assessment Questions and
Reading Assignments
There is one key point that I failed to mention in today's class. There
is a mandatory attendance requirement. This is spelt out in the Handbook
and the Reading Guide (page 4). In order to get a mark in this subject,
you must attend at least 75% of the seminars and guest
presentations.That means 8 of the 11 seminars (including today's) and
three of the four guest presentations. The aim is to ensure that there
are enough people at each class to have a fruitful discussion.
As you look through the Reading Guide you will see that the assessment
questions are set out there - there is one for each substantive class.
You can start thinking right away about which two you want to do for the
two items of assessment.
Finally, as promised, here are the assignments to the various reading
groups for next week only (we may need to reshuffle a bit as people
finalise their enrolments):
