Senior Lecturer

Linda Haller was appointed to the Faculty as a Senior Lecturer in 2006.  She has published and spoken widely in Australia and overseas in relation to the professional discipline and regulation of lawyers.  In 2006 she completed her PhD ' Discipline of the Queensland Legal Profession'  and in 2007 was awarded the University of Queensland's Dean's Commendation for outstanding research.  One examiner said of the PhD 'This thesis represents a truly remarkable accomplishment and I can think of no similarly thorough, painstakingly researched approach to the question of lawyers' professional discipline anywhere in the English- language world.'

Dr Haller was formerly a lecturer at the University of Queensland and prior to her academic career practised as a lawyer in Victoria and Queensland.

    Dr Haller is presently investigating the ways in which lawyers have been disciplined in various Australian jurisdictions, the impact of consumer protection reforms in lawyer discipline and the COAG National Legal Profession Reform Project.

    Dr Haller is contributing a chapter to a forthcoming book to be edited by Professor Richard Abel which compares the ways lawyers are disciplined in various parts of the world. She is also currently writing a chapter on Regulating the Professions for The Oxford Handbook of Empirical Legal Studies to be published by Oxford University Press.
