Admission to Legal Practice Subjects for Pre-2006 Students

Compulsory Subjects
Torts and the Process of Law I and II
History and Philosophy of Law I and II (not required for legal practice but compulsory for LLB)
Criminal Law and Procedure I and II
Contracts I and II
Constitutional and Administrative Law
Property I and II
Equity and Trusts
 
Quasi-Compulsory Subjects
Corporations Law (730-460)
Evidence (730-385)
Civil Litigation* (730-384) - will not be offered after 2006 and will be replaced by Dispute Resolution (730-113)

Dispute Resolution and Legal Ethics* (730-410) - will not be offered after 2006 and will be replaced by Legal Ethics (730-454). 

OR

Legal Ethics and Professional Conduct* (730-383; Summer Semester) - will not be offered after 2006 and will be replaced by Legal Ethics (730-454).

 

*Equivalent subjects in the new curriculum are available here.

Note: Students who have successfully completed the year long subject 730-112 Dispute Resolution and Legal Ethics will not be allowed to study 730-384 Civil Litigation or 730-410 Dispute Resolution and Legal Ethics (semester long subject) or 730-383 Legal Ethics and Professional Conduct.

Students are strongly recommended to undertake the quasi-compulsory subjects, even if they do not currently intend to practise law. If a graduate subsequently wishes to practise law and has not completed all the admission to practise subjects, these subjects must be undertaken as individual Community Access Program (CAP) subjects.
