Prerequisites: Criminal Law and Procedure I, History and Philosophy of Law I, History and Philosophy of Law II, Torts and the Process of Law I, Torts and the Process of Law IIDescription
The subject studies the legal categories, judicial culture, and socio-historical contexts through which the contemporary attribution of criminal responsibility takes place. The topics covered in this subject include: the law of property crimes (theft and deception offences); the law of sexual offences (rape, indecent assault, and related offences); the doctrines of strict and absolute liability and mistake; the law of attempts; and the doctrines of complicity. Throughout each of these topics, the emphasis is on both the theories and practices of criminal law.
